Truffle hunting

Our walk will take place within a beautiful forest in the heart of Chianti Classico. Guiding us will be a truffle hunter friend along with his faithful companions, some trained dogs who will help us in the search for truffles the “black diamond.” It will be an opportunity to let them tell us what it means to go truffle hunting, what sacrifices it imposes and what satisfaction it gives, as well as secrets and curiosities about the centuries-old woods and plants that among their roots welcome this precious jewel.

Truffle gathering in Tuscany is an ancient tradition, which takes us all the way back to the Romans and is mainly linked to the culture of Mediterranean peoples. However, it has remained virtually unchanged over the centuries, because it has never lost its spirit as a fascinating “game” in nature: one that legions of enthusiasts continue to practice and that is based on the relationship between man and dog, a symbiotic bond, to be built and nurtured over time and decisive for ultimate success. At the end of our journey we will be able to deservedly sit down at the table and taste the truffles we have collected, paired with some of the foods of the Tuscan culinary tradition, the simplest and most genuine. And accompanying “the king of the table,” as the truffle is defined, will be the typical wines of the area, especially Chianti Classico.
