The Via Romea Sanese is an ancient route linking Florence and Siena through the heart of the Chianti countryside. For centuries, it served as an important connection toward Rome and the Via Francigena, passing through medieval villages, churches, abbeys, vineyards and olive groves. Today, it is one of the most fascinating ways to discover the landscapes, history and rural heritage of Chianti on foot.
Our Castellina in Chianti hiking tour follows panoramic trails and white gravel roads through the rolling hills of Chianti Classico, among vineyards, olive groves and historic landmarks. Along the way, we reach the Etruscan necropolis of Poggino, near Fonterutoli, a site that offers a fascinating glimpse into the ancient Etruscan history of this part of Tuscany.
The experience ends with a Chianti Classico wine tasting paired with typical Tuscan products, surrounded by the peaceful landscape of the Sienese Chianti. A guided hiking experience combining history, archaeology, nature, vineyards, local wine and Tuscan flavors in one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany.
