We will hike through the heart of Chianti Classico, inside a protected natural area that preserves landscapes of extraordinary beauty. Our destination will be the picturesque Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo in Passignano, founded in 1309 by Giovanni Gualberto, founder of the Vallombrosan Congregation.
Even today, Vallombrosan monks live within its ancient walls, safeguarding a spiritual tradition that has lasted centuries.
But this place is not only about faith and silence: it is also a land of excellence. Along the trail, we will be surrounded by endless vineyards producing some of the world’s most renowned wines. Few know that the abbey’s historic cellars, now managed by the Antinori family, house their finest wines, slowly aged in the heart of history.
A unique experience where nature, culture, and spirituality intertwine, offering an authentic taste of the soul of Chianti.

The village of Greve in Chianti, located in the heart of Chianti Classico, is currently the largest center in the Chianti region. Its millenary history is evident from its strategic position: situated along three important pilgrimage routes—the Chiantigiana Road, the route to Valdarno, and the route to Val di Pesa—Greve has long been a key meeting point for travelers and merchants.
Our excursion will start from the picturesque Piazza Matteotti, the lively heart of the village, surrounded by elegant historic buildings and cozy cafés. From here, the route winds through the gentle Chianti hills, offering breathtaking views all the way to the village of Montefioralle, perched among vineyards and olive groves.
Along the way, we will have the opportunity to explore the charm of Montefioralle up close, admiring its beauty through the picturesque corners that make this enchanting village truly unforgettable.
