Lake Garda is a true paradise for trekking enthusiasts and for those who want to soak in thermal waters. It’s the perfect chance to enjoy a weekend of wellness, adventure, and discovery.
A genuine natural gem set among the Gardesane Pre-Alps, Lake Garda offers stunning alpine and pre-alpine landscapes, while its underwater springs make its waters perfect for thermal treatments. Over the course of our weekend, we’ll experience both the natural wonders and the therapeutic qualities of Italy’s largest lake.
We’ll visit a beautiful sanctuary in Val d’Adige, reached via a long staircase that opens onto breathtaking views, and we’ll explore the southern ridge of Monte Baldo one of its most fascinating marvels. This imposing mountain, with its unique and extraordinary natural environment, rises to 2,200 meters and offers spectacular views over the lake and surrounding valleys. We’ll hike up to Punta Telegrafo, one of Monte Baldo’s peaks, and from a balcony perched high above the water we’ll admire the lake’s stunning shores.
As mentioned, we’ll also have the chance to relax at the beautiful Thermal Park of Villa dei Cedri, where we can soak in warm, healing waters surrounded by an enchanting natural setting. True to WeHike tradition, we’ll also enjoy wine tastings, savoring some of the local wines produced by the venue hosting us. It will be a weekend filled with activity and wellness, nature and relaxation—an experience to share in the heart of one of Italy’s most enchanting places.

Our adventure begins with one of Lake Garda’s most spectacular hikes: the Sentiero della Speranza (“Path of Hope”), a forest trail featuring a long staircase of 1,500 steps that leads us to the Madonna della Corona Sanctuary. This magical place, suspended between heaven and earth, is hidden in the cliffs of Monte Baldo, overlooking the Val d’Adige. After our hike, just in time for aperitivo, we’ll enjoy a wine tasting at our accommodation, followed by dinner.

On the second day we’ll cross the southern ridge of Monte Baldo to reach Punta Telegrafo, a must-see at 2,200 meters. We’ll take the cable car up to Rifugio Fiori del Baldo and then, surrounded by herds of chamois, edelweiss, and colorful colchicum flowers, we’ll hike toward our destination. This is a truly magnificent trek, perfect for enjoying Lake Garda and the Alps from a unique and secluded perspective, with views stretching from the entire lake to the Brenta Dolomites, and further north to the Adamello and Ortles glaciers. After an afternoon of hiking, we’ll head to the Villa dei Cedri Thermal Park to unwind and relax until late evening.
Distance: 7 km
Height difference: 280 m
On our third and final day, we’ll hike a loop trail through woods, vineyards, and ancient villages in the eastern hills of Lake Garda, leading us to the “Rocca” promontory above the town of Garda (from which the lake gets its name, did you know?). This splendid natural balcony on the Verona side of the lake marks the boundary between the towns of Garda and Bardolino and offers breathtaking views of the crystal-clear waters below.

Leoni Andrea, born in Arco(TN) and residing in the woods half an hour from the same, is an Environmental Hiking Guide regularly registered with A.I.G.A.E. A dynamic and sporty person, he loves to travel especially to remote destinations such as Alaska, Svalbard, Namibia… “self-organizing” trips. He also loves climbing, running, walking, and all this has just led him to Nepal to undertake hiking to Everest Base Camp, with the ascent of Lobuche East, 6,119 meters. He does not despise the sea and so how could he not also love surfing? A hobby that has led him several times to places like the Canary Islands and the Azores. He is finishing writing a guidebook/travelogue about this very beautiful Portuguese archipelago with which he has fallen madly in love. But he also loves lying down and relaxing in a hammock reading a good book in the beloved woods back home.
