We will hike through the heart of Chianti Classico along scenic trails and white gravel roads surrounded by vineyards, woodland and rolling hills, within the protected natural area of Badia a Passignano. Our destination is the historic Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo, an ancient Vallombrosan monastic complex whose origins date back to before the year 1000 and one of the most fascinating spiritual and cultural landmarks in Chianti.
Badia a Passignano is closely connected to San Giovanni Gualberto and the Vallombrosan tradition, which is still alive today thanks to the presence of the monks. Around the abbey, Chianti Classico vineyards stretch across the hills, creating one of the most distinctive landscapes in Tuscany.
