Ferragosto in Chianti: a short getaway and a fresh, unconventional way to celebrate Ferragosto in Tuscany — exploring hidden corners, soaking up the sun, enjoying outstanding food and wine, and sharing meaningful moments with like-minded travelers. Spend a long summer weekend discovering a lesser-known side of Chianti, far from the crowds, together with a small group of curious explorers.
During the weekend, you’ll experience the stunning Parco Fluviale del fiume Elsa, diving into its crystal-clear turquoise waters through rafting or river trekking — a unique, fun, and refreshing adventure in the Tuscan countryside. A scenic, easy hike along Chianti’s panoramic trails will lead us to a small Etruscan necropolis and to the beautiful medieval hamlet of Castello di Fonterutoli, whose historic charm remains perfectly preserved.
Of course, this Tuscan experience wouldn’t be complete without exceptional food and convivial moments. A private chef will host a hands-on pizza workshop and authentic Italian pizza party, where you’ll learn the art of traditional pizza-making and create your own masterpiece. On Ferragosto night, we’ll celebrate together with a themed dinner, great music, and a festive summer atmosphere.

We’ll meet in Colle Val d’Elsa to kick off our weekend with an outdoor adventure along the Elsa River. You can choose between river trekking or rafting, guided by experienced rafting instructors, while enjoying the stunning scenery and the refreshing, crystal-clear waters of this enchanting river.
The Parco Fluviale del fiume Elsa is also a peaceful oasis in the heart of Chianti Classico: a protected natural reserve and habitat for numerous plant and animal species. A true paradise for both body and mind.

In the morning, we’ll enjoy an easy guided hike to reach a small Etruscan necropolis, followed by a visit to the enchanting medieval village of Fonterutoli, owned by the historic Mazzei family. Here, centuries-old stories echo through the streets, and you can fully experience the rich culture of the Chianti region.
Those interested can also tour the Fonterutoli winery, a spectacular space included in Toscana Wine Architecture — a collection of 14 architecturally remarkable wineries designed by leading contemporary architects. A wine tasting of their exceptional Chianti wines is included.
In the afternoon, you’ll have the chance to relax at the hotel’s panoramic swimming pool before enjoying the Ferragosto aperitif and dinner, where live music will set the perfect backdrop for a festive, convivial atmosphere.

To conclude our Ferragosto weekend in Chianti on a high note and in total relaxation, the last day is free of excursions or hikes. After a hearty breakfast and before departure, those who wish can stay a little longer to enjoy the hotel’s pool, with late check-out available upon request.
