Difficulty Levels:

The Hikes are classed into levels of technical and physical effort.

Easy:

Suitable for people of all ages who have a basic fitness level. Elevation gain of less than 300 meters and less than 8 km of distance total. 2-3 hours walk per day with backpack.

Moderate:

Suitable for people of all ages who regularly practice sports. Reasonably fit hikers who get out at least twice a month. Elevation gain less than 600 meters and a maximum distance of 12 km. 4-5 hours walk per day with backpack.

Challenging:

Regular hiking experience is required to participate in hikes at this level. Elevation gain of more than 600 meters and potentially more than 15 km distance in one day. 6-8 hours walk per day with backpack.

Difficult:

A high level of physical endurance is required to participate at this hikes. Suitable for hikers who regularly practice long walks. Elevation gain above 1000 meters and potentially more than 20 km distance in one day. 7-8 hours of walking a day with backpack.

Beekeeping experience in Chianti with Tuscan honey tasting

We will hike along a path that crosses the gentle hill between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers, to discover one of the most remote architectural testimonies ofChianti.

Our first destination will be the romanesque parish church of S. Stefano in Campoli, one of the oldest churches of the Florentine Diocese, first documented in 903 in an act of sale of property between the deacon Stefano and the Abbey of Passignano.

The parish must have assumed considerable importance in the territory, so much so that on several occasions its parish priests were the recipients of papal bulls. Several obtained important religious positions, and among the most famous are Giulio de ‘Medici, future Pope Clement VII, and Candido Del Buono, scientist and inventor of various physical instruments. After a visit to admire the interior and exterior of the church, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful view of the Chianti hills that gently descend towards the villages of Mercatale and Montefiridolfi.

The second part of our hike will help to sweeten our walk. In fact, the path will lead us to a farmhouse, founded in 1934, where time seems to have stood still, because the work in the fields is still carried out today with the same dedication and respect for nature.

Great protagonists will be beehives, which have always colored these fields, and the honey a delicacy that has made entire generations of children and adults lick their lips. A sensory experience, in which we will have also the opportunity to see how a bee colony works understanding the incredible efficiency, tireless and highly organized work hidden in a drop of honey.
