Snowshoes weekend on the Asiago Plateau

Friday, February 2 – Arrival in Asiago and snowshoe hike to Alta Via degli Altipiani

Length: 7.5 km
Elevation gain: 350 m

After arriving in Asiago town, we will head immediately to the northernmost portion of the plateau for the first snowshoe hike of the weekend, admiring the views towards the Lagorai mountain chain, the Pale di San Martino, the Valsugana and the Brenta Dolomites.

Among boundless larch forests, we will hike part of the Alta Via degli Altipiani, a path that crosses at high altitude the entire northern area of the Asiago Plateau. We will end the day with hotel check-in and dinner.

Saturday, February 3 – Snowshoe hike to Forte Campolongo

Lenght: 8 km
Elevation gain: 300 m

On the second day, with a spectacular and easy snowshoe hike, we will head to Forte Campolongo, a military fortress built to defend the Italian border against the Austro-Hungarian Empire at an altitude of 1720m, overlooking the Val d’Astico.

We will admire unique landscapes that alternate between rock walls, wooded valleys, caves and unexpected cavities, typical of the karstification present on the plateau.

We will have lunch at the mountain hut and after another short snowshoe hike, to stretch our legs, we will head to visit the Museum of the Great War 1915-1918.

Sunday, February 4 – Snowshoe hike to Monte Verena

Length: 12 km
Elevation gain: 600 m

After breakfast and check-out, we will prepare for our last snowshoe hike, which among forests and alpine pastures will take us to Monte Verena at an altitude of 2015m.

With spectacular views overlooking the entire Asiago Plateau, we will visit the famous Fort Verena, a military structure of the First World War, which has a symbolic meaning, since from here came the first shot of the Italian war on May 1915. We will have lunch at the mountain hut at 2000m and then we will begin our descent.

At the end of the snowshoe hike, we will visit the Asiago dairy store to taste and buy local artisanal products.

Participation fee:

• € 100.00 to be paid at the time of registration
• € 210.00 thirty days before departure

The fee includes:

• Professional English speaking Hiking Guide for the duration of the entire hiking trip (environmental hiking guide qualified in accordance with L.R. 42 of 23/03/2000 and subsequent amendments).
• Accommodation of 2 nights in a 3* hotel in Asiago in double rooms with single beds
• On request possibility of single room at no extra charge (limited availability)
• Half board service with 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners (drinks not included)
• Parking space at the hotel
• Free WiFi
• Accident insurance

The fee does not include

• Travel costs to reach Asiago and return (fuel and tolls) to be made by own car
• Tourist tax of € 1.50 per day
• Snowshoes rental € 10.00 per day
• Lunches at the mountain huts
• Anything not specified under “The fee include”.

Cancellation policy

The following applies in case of cancellation:

• Cancellations made up to 61 days from the date of departure: penalty 0%.
• The cancellation of the reservation from 60 to 31 days from the date of departure: penalty of 30% of the booked services.
• The cancellation of the reservation from 30 to 15 days from the date of departure: penalty of 40% of the booked services.
• The cancellation of the reservation from 14 to 8 days from the date of departure: penalty of 70% of the booked services.
• The cancellation of the reservation within 7 days from the date of departure penalty of 100% of the booked services.
